Exit Alerts asks before you leave the pages you choose to protect.

The extension does not send your browsing URLs or page content to the developer, an analytics service, or an advertising service.
Information the extension handles
Exit Alerts processes the current page URL and navigation destination URLs to decide whether to display a warning. URLs can include a hostname, path, and query parameters. The popup reads the active tab URL to show protection status and when you choose “Use current.” It does not keep a record of your browsing history.
The enabled setting and the URL rules you add are stored in chrome.storage.local in your Chrome profile. A rule includes its URL, matching scope, and an internal identifier. Saved URLs can contain personal information if you include it in a path or query parameter.
The extension does not read or save conversations, form entries, passwords, payment details, or other page text. It observes relevant navigation and interaction events, including link destinations, to show warnings and determine whether Chrome can display its built-in warning. It does not record keystrokes or typed characters.
How information is used and shared
URL information is used only to provide the protection you configure. The extension makes no application network requests and has no analytics, advertising, remote code, account, or developer-operated data collection service. The developer does not receive your settings or browsing URLs and does not sell or transfer them.
To warn before an in-page route change, an extension bridge passes the enabled setting and rules for the current origin to code running in the page. Scripts on that website may observe those current-origin rules. Rules for other origins are not sent to the page. This mechanism is not intended to protect secrets from the website itself.
Exit Alerts uses information only for its stated user-facing purpose and adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
- Storage: remembers your enabled setting and URL rules locally.
- Scripting: installs the warning code on websites where access has been granted.
- Active tab: lets the popup read the tab URL when you open it.
- ChatGPT site access: enables the default rule for
https://chatgpt.com/?temporary-chat=true. - Optional site access: is requested when you add a rule for another website. Chrome grants host access; your saved rule determines which paths and queries receive warnings.
Your controls and retention
You can remove individual rules in the popup or disable protection. Disabling protection retains your rules. Removing a rule deletes it from the extension settings, but does not automatically revoke Chrome's site permission. Manage those permissions in Chrome's extension settings. Uninstalling the extension removes its local extension storage from the Chrome profile.
Only add URL values that you are comfortable storing in your browser and making visible to the matching website. Exit Alerts does not provide its own encryption or backup for these settings.
This policy website
This static policy page contains no analytics scripts or forms. Like other websites, its hosting service processes a visitor's network request to deliver the page. That is separate from the extension, which does not automatically contact this page or send extension settings to it.
